The short version: threshold. is a calculator. Your salary, tax, and pension data never leaves your device. We show ads via Google AdMob, which collects a device advertising identifier. That is the only data we share with a third party.
1. Who we are
threshold. is a mobile application for iOS and Android that calculates UK income tax, National Insurance, pension contributions, and related deductions. The app is operated by threshold. ("we", "us", "our").

2. What data we collect
Data you enter (salary, pension %, student loan plan, etc.): This data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. We do not have access to it.
Data collected automatically:
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android): collected by Google AdMob to serve advertisements. You can reset or disable this identifier in your device settings.
- Basic device information: device type, operating system version, and app version. Used by AdMob for ad delivery and by us for crash diagnostics.
Data we do NOT collect:
- Names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information
- Salary, tax, or pension figures you enter into the calculator
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
3. How we use your data
- Advertising: We use Google AdMob to display ads within the app. AdMob uses your device advertising identifier to serve relevant advertisements.
- App improvement: We may use anonymous, aggregated crash reports to fix bugs and improve the app.
4. Third-party services
We use the following third-party service:
- Google AdMob (advertising): Google may collect device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data to serve and measure ads. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), our legal bases for processing are:
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): serving non-personalised advertisements to support a free app.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): where required by law (e.g., Apple's App Tracking Transparency), we will ask for your consent before collecting your advertising identifier for personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate personal data
- Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
Since we do not collect personal data beyond what AdMob gathers automatically, most of these rights are best exercised through your device settings (Settings > Privacy > Advertising on iOS, or Settings > Google > Ads on Android).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ddg.freelance@gmail.com.
7. Data retention
We do not store any user data on our servers. Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's data retention policies.
8. Children's privacy
threshold. is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app's content (UK tax calculations for high earners) is designed for adult users. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Google AdMob may transfer data outside the UK. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved mechanisms for such transfers. See Google's data transfer policies for details.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
